I am a little obsessed with eggs. I love creating and making new pieces. I learned of this art (pysanky – Ukrainian Easter Eggs) while teaching in a small rural community in Saskatchewan, Canada. The process of applying wax with a stylus to an egg shell and then adding color with special dyes and then layering more wax and colors until melting it all off for the big reveal is incredibly rewarding and relaxing.
I have been making art with eggs for about 5 years and continue to learn new things each time I start a new piece. I work with all sorts of eggs and no egg is the same!
I make some into ornaments and some are just displayed naturally on a stand. I have made and shipped eggs to people all over North America.
In 2022, I took a leap and entered and placed second in the SCERA Center for the Arts Public art competition.
I love teaching others how to make these works of art and will share the how anytime I can.
